FRIENDS OF ST. ANNE’S, Sunday 12 October starting at 3 p.m.: Annual General Meeting, including a talk by Lucy Winn, the sculptor of the new plaque in the extension. VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR TEA/COFFEE: We need more people on the rota for helping to prepare, serve the teas and coffees and then clear away, after the Sunday 10 a.m. Service. The job is not too onerous and you will always be partnered with someone. If you would like to help, then please speak to Jackie.
FAMILY SUPPORT WORK FOOD BANK: F.S.W. is still in need of a lot of the staples including: tinned vegetables, baked beans, soup, jams & spreads, coffee & tea, tinned fruit, pasta sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, biscuits and crisps, tinned meat and fish and cereal. Check everything you donate is in date and, please, no fresh/chilled/frozen items. You can leave donations at the back of the church.
A NEW COURSE STARTING THIS MONTH: READING THE MYSTICS. This is a series of six meetings where we will be reading and discussing selections from a variety of mystical writers, from Julian of Norwich to Meister Eckhart. The aim is to become more familiar with the vision of the mystics, their sense of how God is present in all things and within us, the reality of love, how we can become present to God. The aim of the group is to create a place of informal discussion and reflection as to how we can all enrich and deepen our sense of the divine. Note: this will be held at St. Michael's Church, 7pm to 8:30pm, Thursdays. The first session is on Thursday the 30th of October. Please contact me if you'd like to receive the first set of readings. Ben (rectorstanneslewes@gmail.com).
ST ANNE'S WEBSITE: www.stanneslewes.org.uk - Our website offers resources for our growth in discipleship. On the website you can now find recent sermons collated in one place under the tag sermons. Also, we have a regular slot called Spiritual Reflections which aims to look at questions of faith in a fresh, imaginative way. Contact Ashley or Ben if you can't find the content.
ONLINE AND CARD TRANSACTIONS: Donations can also be made through our website (the DONATE button is in the top right-hand corner of every page).
