John Culley - Spirituality and Religion
The search for spirituality is one of the most striking aspects of 21st century culture. The Christian understanding of spirituality includes deep thought about how people relate belief to the attitudes and values that they express in their lives, and how they relate to God in prayer. In secular, post-modern culture, spirituality often involves no church connection and people describe themselves as spiritual but not religious. The talk will suggest that spirituality is an area where Christians and people of other faiths, or of no specific faith, can find worthwhile insight through dialogue. John spent time as a volunteer hospice chaplain. During lockdown he started studying spirituality and has recently completed an MA degree in Christian Spirituality at St Mary's University, Twickenham.
