LEWES VALENTINE’S DAY FOODBANK APPEAL... A WONDERFUL RESULT!
Thank you to all who supported this appeal. The goal was to raise £7002.00, to match the number of items donated for the Christmas appeal. In the end, £10,494.94 was raised. This means 7164 food and household items were purchased by volunteers on Valentine’s Day itself, and the balance of the funds has been divided between the food banks to keep them going until Easter.
LEWES PRIORY TRUST
Lewes Priory Trust has announced that the Priory will come alive after the Covid lockdowns with a colourful series of illustrated talks on Zoom.
“The talks are free to all”, says chairman Sy Morse-Brown, “and we have news of a mysterious underground tunnel, and the chances of new excavations at the Priory Park. The Priory Trust is presenting a line-up of expert speakers in four evening symposia on Zoom. We’re proud to offer an appealing programme for anyone with a love of Lewes history, telling the story of how our magnificent monastery became one of the top ten in England 900 years ago.”
The four symposia, each containing four short talks, begin at 7.30pm on Tuesday 4 May, Friday 7 May, Tuesday 11 May and Friday 14 May. The series is rounded off on Saturday 15 May with a guided tour of the Priory remains by two of the Trust’s experts.
The symposia are free: email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the full programme. “We welcome all Lewesians and lovers of Sussex”, says Sy Morse-Brown.
Just a reminder that we do a pre-recorded service (with very grateful thanks to Peter Shears) each week, which can be viewed on this website or YouTube. Go to YouTube and search for "St Anne's Church Lewes" or click the link below:
