CARITAS: Our contemplative evening service returns next month, shared across our three churches. The first Caritas service will be at St Anne's on Sunday the 18th of February at 6:30pm. It will be a contemplative communion service.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: In our morning prayer readings we had Matthew's account of Jesus clearing the temple (21:12-14) when he says "My house shall be called a house of prayer". In Matthew's account it then says, 'The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them.' The act of clearing the temple is the act of clearing the human heart so as to make a space for God. Once we have made that space we can also allow God's healing love and presence to fill us. Always worth noticing the subtle differences in how each gospel treats a scene we think we know. We often miss the telling, transformative details. In Matthew's version the clearing of the temple and the curing of the sick are one great loving act of grace.
