6pm - Sunday February 16th 2025 - St Anne's, Lewes
The Lewes Festival of Song winter concert, will taker place on Sunday 16th February at 6pm, at St. Anne’s Church in Lewes.
Appropriately it’s Schubert’s Winterreise, his utterly compelling and sombre song-cycle - with glimmers of light - written during 1827. Schubert was correcting the proofs for publication days before his early death in 1828.
This is our first Winterreise and we’re excited to be welcoming, also for the first time, two highly accomplished recitalists, bass-baritone Ashley Riches and pianist Emma Abbate.
Ashley (https://askonasholt.com/artist/ashley-riches) was a New Generation Artist for Radio 3 from 2016 to 2018, and is a versatile artist with a debut solo album. He performs across many styles and genres, appearing at the Royal Opera House, with The English Concert, with the London Symphony Orchestra and at the Proms.
The International Record Review said of Emma that she has ‘complete assurance and clear dedication’. She performs with many leading singers and instrumentalists, and you may have heard her playing Fauré and Schumann for the Nicholas Yonge Society recently.
Please do join us for this event which promises to be terrific.
You can book tickets (£20 adults, £5 students, free to under 18s) through our website or www.lewesfestivalofsong.co.uk or using the link below.
